Select the nationality as it appears on your passport. This must match the nationality on the passport you're using for this application.

After you finish the step-by-step guide, you'll receive a friendly email with your unique reference number. You can sign in to your private account area at any time using the email and password you created, to see how things are going.

We also gently keep you informed by email at every important moment. If anything changes — for example, if your application moves on to the next stage, or if our team has a small question for you — we'll write to you straight away. Please do check the email address you gave us regularly.

What the Status Words Mean

Your application moves through a few simple stages. Here is exactly what each one means, in plain English, so you always know what is happening:

Wonderful — we have your details safely. A real person from our team will be looking through them very soon. There is nothing for you to do at this stage.

You'll usually move to the next stage within a few hours.

Being Checked by Our Team

A trained, kind member of our team is currently reading carefully through every answer. They are quietly making sure that every name, number, and date matches your passport exactly.

Our team usually finishes within 24 hours.

Small Correction Needed

Our team has gently spotted something that needs to be put right. Please check your email inbox — and the junk folder, just in case — for a friendly message explaining exactly what to do.

We'll continue as soon as we hear back from you.

Sent to the UK Authorities

Lovely news — your details have passed our human review and have now been securely sent to the UK authorities for their decision.

Their official review usually takes up to 3 working days.

Being Decided by the Authorities

The UK authorities are now making their decision. This is the official stage and is entirely in their hands. We will email you the moment we hear back.

Most decisions arrive within 3 working days; sometimes up to 10.

Approved

Hooray — your UK ETA has been approved! It is now linked to your passport. There is nothing for you to print or carry. We've sent a friendly confirmation email with all the details.

You're all set to travel to the United Kingdom.

Here are a few gentle reminders to make the wait as comfortable as possible:

  • Check your email regularly — including the junk folder, just in case
  • Keep your passport somewhere safe and easy to find
  • Try not to book non-refundable flights or hotels until your ETA is confirmed
  • If anything has changed and you need to make a small correction, please tell us as early as possible
  • Remember, you can sign in to your private account area at any time
