How Long Will It Take?

We want you to be able to plan your trip with complete peace of mind. Here is a clear, honest explanation of every stage and how long it usually takes.

A Plain-English Look at the Timeline

There are two main stages. The first is when our friendly team carefully checks your details. The second is when the UK authorities make their official decision. We will be in touch by email at every stage, so you are never left wondering.

What Happens, and When

Stage 1: Our Team Checks Your Details

Usually within 24 hours

Once you have finished the questionnaire, a real person from our team sits down and reads through every answer you've given. They make sure that every name, number, and date matches your passport exactly.

If anything needs a small correction, we'll send you a friendly email in plain English explaining exactly what to do. Nothing is sent to the UK authorities until everything is right.

A Helpful Note: Why this matters: This careful human review is how we keep you safe from the small typing mistakes that can cause delays at the border.

Stage 2: The UK Authorities Make Their Decision

Usually within 3 working days

After we send your details across, the UK authorities take over. They make their own checks and decide whether to approve the ETA. We will email you the moment we hear back.

You can also sign in to your private account area at any time to see the latest update — there is no need to wait for our email.

A Helpful Note: Please remember: We have no influence over how long the UK authorities take. But by making sure your details are perfect first, we help avoid the kinds of small issues that can slow things down.

Stage 3: A Longer Wait (In Some Cases)

Sometimes up to 10 working days

Occasionally, the UK authorities need a little longer. This often happens during very busy travel seasons such as summer holidays or Christmas. It is usually nothing to worry about.

If your application is taking a little longer, please rest assured — we will keep you informed by email at every step.

A Helpful Note: A helpful tip: Beginning your application 2 to 3 weeks before your trip gives you a comfortable cushion of time, just in case.

Some Friendly Planning Advice

From experience, here is what we gently recommend so your trip stays calm and stress-free:

  • Begin your step-by-step guide at least 2–3 weeks before your travel date
  • Allow a little extra time during busy holiday seasons (summer, Christmas, Easter)
  • Have your passport in front of you before you begin, so you can copy details exactly
  • Check your email regularly after you finish, so you don't miss any friendly updates
  • You can sign in to your private account area to check on things any time you like

What Happens Once You Are Approved

Once the UK authorities approve your ETA, it is linked to your passport electronically. There is nothing for you to print or carry — when you arrive in the UK, the border officials will see it on their screen when they look up your passport. We will email you the good news straight away, and we recommend keeping that email safely with your travel documents.

An Important Reminder: Timing estimates above are based on usual conditions. We kindly recommend you do not book non-refundable flights or hotels until your ETA has been confirmed.
